| Egzaminy AS Level zapewniają świadectwo ukończenia szkoły średniej. Dla wielu uczniów w Anglii jest to koniec edukacji i od uzyskanych na tym egzaminie stopni zależą w dużym stopniu perspektywy uzyskania pracy względnie dostania się na wyższe studia. Poprzednio egzaminy na A Level z języka polskiego przeprowadzał Uniwersytet Londyński, ale od roku 2000 uprawnienia w tym względzie uzyskał angielski inspektorat AQA, pod którego auspicjami PMS przeprowadza egzaminy w nowych kategoriach AS i A2 Level. Co roku do tych egzaminów przystępuje około 150 osób, wśród nich również rodowici Anglicy, niekiedy w wieku bynajmniej nie młodzieżowym.

A & AS Level exams for many pupils in England are the end of their education and, therefore, the results achieved determine to a large extent their chances of finding a job and/or the place at the University or other institution of higher education. Until recently the A Level exams (Polish) were organised by the University of London but in 2000 that task was transferred to the AQA Educational Board which in turn entrusted the Polish Educational Society with the task of offering two new options, namely AS Level exams (Polish) & AL Level exams (Polish). Some 150 candidates sit the exams each year, among them native English people including some of mature age.
